What once was a playground taunt has turned out to be true: Girls are better than boys.
Girls have eclipsed boys on state and national tests. They are more likely to stay in school and to graduate, and they demand less special attention than boys, data show. Read more.
While I haven't read this story, Salon.com ran a similar piece a few years ago that indicated that no programs were ever instituted to help boys learn better, while girls were getting extra assistance. In essence, boys were told to deal with it on their own and given no support structure.
Interesting, and a little bit frustrating.
